Description
In Qgis we have a grid able to be displayed from the View menu (decorations)
This is useful but it is fixed to the coordinate system and therefore limited because inherently it is not rotatable.
The use I would most often want to make use of a grid for is when drawing straight lines or regular polygons and wanting easily to be able to align them accurately and that is what the grid could be really useful for.
In other words the verticals and horizontals line up with the sides of the window and I would just set the map rotation to what lines up so I can draw and make use of the grid to have nice straight lines and regular polygons etc.
Whilst I see there is an option to use a marker and the verticals/horizontals are really aligned with the sides of the window, the offset ones make for unnecessary visual clutter. Whereas the grid just has regular lines which is easier to work with. The marker lines being at 0/90/180/270 degrees always also makes it seem odd that you can have a marker that lines up, but a grid that doesn't. If the markers are going to be a useful alternative to the grid then they need to be aligned vertically and horizontally relative to the sides of the window rather than by the meridians or whatever the grid lines up on.
