Description
While the print composer is a powerful tool, it is also a demanding process to get a final print. The user has no chance of knowing which paper layout to use before opening a composer. It's easy to make a choice from landscape or portrait, but the paper size is difficult because it depends on the scale and extent. What I would really like is a tool bar with some comboboxes in which the user can pick from composer layouts and scale, and then a button that turns the mouse cursor in to a rectangle that resembles the chosen layout and scale. This way the user can quickly determine which layout will fit the area needed. Clicking the canvas with the rectangle cursor should then open the corresponding composer.
See attached image. This is just a suggestion.
